A modern bathroom vanity is basically any vanity that is not an antique. Typically though, if a vanity is unique in shape, sleek in design, and stylishly different from any other vanity you have ever seen then it probably falls into the category of modern. Modern design can however, include many different types of materials similar to standard vanities like wood, glass, metal, and even porcelain. The most notable difference between any old vanity and a Modern Bathroom vanity has to be its unique design, how the vanity is mounted, and the type of fixtures it contains.

The design of a vanity can encompass many things including the shape, style, color, and finish. For instance, if a vanity has an odd shape or a curved design then it clearly is more modern than a basic square or boxy shape. A vanity with glass shelves versus one with wooden cabinetry is also considered more modern because cabinetry and storage is something that most people associate with a vanity area. The color and finish of the material used in the making of the vanity can also set it apart from what most people consider basic or standard. For example, a glossy black finish is more modern than a regular wood stain. When each and every one of these design elements is taken into consideration, finding a modern vanity becomes a little bit easier.

There are many ways to mount a bathroom vanity but some are more modern than others. Wall mounting is a newer trend that is dramatically changing how people purchase bathroom vanities. Even a regular or basic vanity can be made to look more modern by wall mounting it and creating the illusion that the vanity is floating in midair. Mounting a vanity with or without storage cabinetry is a great way to add style, elegance, and an artistic touch to any bathroom design plan.

Adding fixtures like vessel sinks and unique faucets is yet another way to set a regular vanity apart from other more basic units. Vessel sinks can come in many shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. Vessel sinks are another great opportunity to add a unique design element to a bathroom by choosing unique material, color, and shape. Faucets can also add an intriguing look to any bathroom vanity. Waterfall faucets are usually installed to accompany vessel sinks. When turned on, the water cascades down into the bowl like a waterfall over a swimming hole.
